John Warner

John began his insurance career in Toronto in 1968 working as a general insurance personal lines underwriter, first with Canadian Surety and then as a casualty underwriter with Commercial Union.  In the late 1970’s he worked in England as a marketing representative with the Wesleyan General Insurance Company.  In 1990 with the assistance of the Ecclesiastical Insurance Company, John incorporated a brokerage under his name in Cornwall, Ontario.  Later in 1999, the Cornwall office branched out to Vankleek Hill, operating as Assurance Champlain Insurance.  Today, John is happy to have brilliant staff, who are all registered insurance brokers who pride themselves on providing personal service to insurance clients in Eastern Ontario.

John is married to Shanti whom he met in England and they have a daughter, Miranda, a graduate of Waterloo University who is active in the theatre world of Kitchener/Waterloo.  John is a CIP, (Chartered Insurance Professional).  He enjoys working with his community, having served for 30 years as a member and president of the Cornwall Rotary Club; eight years on the board of Cornwall’s women’s shelter, Baldwin House and six years with Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers, including chairman.  John loves to swim, run, bike, and has a keen interest in yoga and snowshoe racing and is supportive of these sports in the local community.
